Will Greyline Antennas be effective for use on the CB band?
YES, is the short answer.
The CB band segment lives at 11M or 27 MHz. As Greyline offers HF vertical antennas and Flagpole Antennas to the Ham Radio operator demographic that widely uses adjacent radio frequencies near the CB band spectrum, it's natural that the Greyline Antennas work on the 11M CB band as well.
Let's look closer... using the universal calculations for 1/2 wave antennas 468/frequency (27.5 MHz) = 17 feet.
So, knowing this, the 9' Whip, 16' or 20' Greyline HF Vertical Dipole and Flagpole Antenna both will provide Real DX "skip" and regional attributes for the CB operator looking for something smarter, stronger, and more elegant. Perfect for the HOA CB radio operator.
As with all of our antenna offerings, we urge you to consider adding an ATU (automatic or manual antenna tuner) at the base of your CB antenna or in the CB radio shack. Also, always use high-quality feed lines such as LMR 400 and quality components to match the intended high-quality of the Greyline Antenna System.

The Flagpole option is quite popular with the CB operators. Either our Base Flagpole or a combo of Base + Whip (adjustable) to achieve 1/4 wave or 5/8 wave (more gain) lengths (heights):
| Configuration | Total Height | Upper Whip Needed | Buyer Benefit |
|
| 1/4 Wave | 11.5' | 102" | Lower profile, extremely easy to tune, high bandwidth. |
| 5/8 Wave | 21.6' | 224" | Maximum "Skip" distance, lowest take-off angle, +3dB gain. |
If Flagpole is your goal for HOA or beautification use you may want the 20’ Flagpole with ATU. This gets you very close to 5/8 wave for the added 3.5 dBi gain (it’s like doubling your power from 100W to 200W) - note, no power limits with our antennas. Nothing to burn up. Always watch the rating for your ATU if used.
Other options for 1/4 and 5/8 wave:
We have 12’ Flagpoles and 20-24’ Flagpoles as our base models to achieve these two needs.
12’ Flagpole or HF Vertical Antenna is near perfect for CB users. Option: An ATU (tuner) for SWR fine-tuning, or you could cut to length.
16’ + whip: The whip is tunable (slide rule) to perfect SWR. Goal 21.6’
20’ + whip or ATU: Whip fine-tune, or ATU for fine tune.
24’ is too long. The signal will not be on the horizon when you are longer than 5/8 wave.
100W ATU recommended? The LDG RT-100 ATU works great.
For WHIP fine-tuning reference:
| Desired Center Frequency | Wave Type | Adjust 102" Whip By: | Resulting Upper Length |
|
| 26.965 MHz (Ch. 1) | 1/4 Wave | + 0.5" | 102.5" |
| 27.205 MHz (Ch. 20) | 1/4 Wave | 0" (Reference) | 102" |
| 27.405 MHz (Ch. 40) | 1/4 Wave | - 0.5" | 101.5" |
| 28.000 MHz (10M Band) | 1/4 Wave | - 3.0" | 99" |
